Our Classes

Edgett Dance & Wellness programming recognizes closed and American styles of ballroom and Latin dance. It is developmentally based, and we have a level perfect for you! In consultation with our staff, we will find the best fit. We offer training in social dance as well as competitive dance. Technique classes run for three months, concentrating on techniques to improve your dance styles, such as footwork, arm action, turns, and more.

Beginners’ Intro A

This is a six-week introduction to the three dances you will use wherever dancing is on the menu. Jive (an energy releaser!), Slow Rhythm (slow enough that you can talk and dance at the same time), Cha Cha (most upbeat pop music is this rhythm).

Beginners’ Intro B

The first six weeks of this course improves on your Jive and Cha Cha, adding a couple of moves to your repertoire.  It is necessary to know the basic of these two dances before participating in this level.  As well, you are introduced to Waltz and Bachata.

101

Continue to develop leading and following skills adding new rhythms and new moves. Rhythms such as Samba, Rumba and Tango are introduced as well as continuation in the previously learned dances. This program is continuous throughout the year giving ample opportunity to gain more confidence and widen your dance experience.

102

Now that you are addicted to social dancing and have managed to become a little comfortable leading and following various dances and moves, this level adds some new rhythms. If you already have some dance experience and want to improve on and add to it, this is a good starting point.

103-107

For dancers with prior training. In conversation with the course teacher we can advise your entry level.
